A tag is a colored label you attach to a contact to show what stage they’re in, how they responded, or how you want to group them. Tags help you organize, filter, and follow up with contacts faster.

Why Use Tags?

Tags give you a fast way to understand where a contact stands without opening their full profile. Instead of scrolling through message history to remember what happened, you can glance at a contact’s tags and immediately know their status.

  • Track where a contact is in your flow — for example, tags like Demo Booked or Pending Call show what's happened so far.
  • Prioritize follow-ups — a tag like Hot or Warm helps your team focus on the contacts most likely to convert.
  • Filter your contact list — search and filter contacts by tag to quickly pull up a specific group.

Key Concepts

Every tag you create in Onbbits has a few core parts. Understanding these makes it easier to set up a tagging system that stays organized as your contact list grows.

  • Tag name — a short label that describes what the tag represents, like Follow Up Message or Demo Completed.
  • Colour — each tag gets a colour dot, which makes it easy to spot visually across your contact list and the Tags page.
  • Description — an optional note explaining what triggers the tag or when to use it. This is especially useful for tags tied to automation, so your team understands their purpose at a glance.
  • Contact count — the Tags page shows how many contacts currently have each tag applied.
  • Opted Out count — shows how many tagged contacts have opted out of messaging, so you can see this at a glance without cross-checking each contact.
